April 8, 2010

Due to a lower-than expected turn out we will unfortunately have to cancel the CapCUE Spring Technology Fair scheduled for April 17th at Jonas Salk High-Tech Academy in Sacramento. For those who have pre-registered, registration fees will be automatically refunded to your credit card via PayPal in the next few days. Many of our potential attendees have cited recent layoffs and current budget freezes for the reason they would not able to attend the tech fair. As a result, we will look to hold a similar event in late September or early October when job assignments, as well as state and district budgets are stable.

In lieu of the CapCUE Spring Technology Fair we encourage you to attend one of the following regional professional learning and networking opportunities below:

CTAP Online Classes
Currently, CTAP offers free, online classes on variety of topics including Microsoft Office applications, iLife software, podcasting, and online tools. All of these courses can be found at the MyCTAP website: http://www.myctap.org/

SECC Annual Awards Night
The Sacramento Educational Cable Consortium will host their annual Student Educational Videos Awards night at CSU Sacramento on May 12, 2010. The evening celebrates the talents and visions of student video producers and sold out last year. If you are interested in attending please visit the SECC website where you will also find links to videos produced by students in 2009. http://www.secctv.org/

CapCUE Social
We realize the power in being a CUE member comes through the connections you are able to make with other computer-using educators in our region. As a result, CapCUE will be hosting an affiliate social night in May. More details will be posted soon on the CapCUE website: http://www.capcue.org

Finally, we would like to prepare for a fall conference by collecting a little information about your interest in the Spring Tech Fair. When you have a moment please complete the survey below:

Thank you again for your interest in attending the CapCUE Spring Technology Fair. We look forward to seeing you at a CapCUE or regional event in the next few months.

Sincerely,

Your CapCUE Board
